Weston Ranch had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Bear Creek Bruins, falling 11-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 on Wednesday.
Nicolas (Nico) Orona made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Fareed Babalola was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Bear Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games.
On Bear Creek's side, Jacob Ordez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Ordez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Daniel Soria and Tyler Gilbert did most of the damage at the plate: Soria got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Gilbert went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Soria a new career-high.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weston Ranch will welcome Stagg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Delta Kings will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Bear Creek, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Tokay at 4:00 p.m.
