The Laney Buccaneers can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Ashley at home to the tune of 76-46. The win was familiar territory for Laney who now have three in a row.
Laney found their leader in underclassman Quin?sier Waddell, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Waddell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Helms, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Ashley saw an underclassman step up: Keyon Jones dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Jones scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Alijah Miller, who scored 12 points.
Laney's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Ashley, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laney will take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Brunswick has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21. As for Ashley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (West Brunswick is ranked 313th, while the Screaming Eagle are ranked 336th).
