Basketball Recap: Saniah Wiley Key Part of a Team Effort in Huskies Win

There's no place like home for Sheldon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack with a sharp 63-42 win on Friday. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Sheldon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Saniah Wiley, who went 8 of 16 en route to 19 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Wiley has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Jemiah Mallari was another key player, shooting 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Sophia Mendenhall and Caitlin Subejano certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Mendenhall went 7 for 15 on her way to 19 points and six boards, while Subejano posted 16 points and three steals. That's the most points Mendenhall has posted since back in December of 2024.

Sheldon's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Cosumnes Oaks, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-13.

Sheldon will venture away from home to take on Pleasant Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Sheldon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.9 points per game this season. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they will challenge Elk Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Cosumnes Oaks is facing Elk Grove at the right time seeing as Elk Grove is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
