Baseball Recap: Oakwood Christian Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

Oakwood Christian came out on top against Varsity Opponent on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Eagles put the hurt on Varsity Opponent with a sharp 11-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Trey Tindell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ryan Phillips was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Oakwood Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4-1 otherwise. Elliot Whittemore was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Oakwood Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Oakwood Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season.
