The Pacifica Tritons will head out on the road to face off against the San Fernando Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Pacifica's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so San Fernando's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
While Pacifica's victory against Foothill Tech wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Pacifica had just enough and edged out Foothill Tech 3-2 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Tritons in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won six in a row.
Devon Wilkes made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Wilkes wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JJ Carmona, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Max Bautista also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, San Fernando never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over North Hollywood. The contest marked the Tigers' most dominant victory of the season so far.
The result came thanks to Alex Torres's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because San Fernando is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise.
At the plate, Marcos Serrano was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Ramon Amezcua was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
San Fernando always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for San Fernando and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Pacifica, their record is now 11-4.
Pacifica was able to grind out a solid win over San Fernando when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 9-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pacifica since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
