Basketball Recap: Coleville Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kenna Lange and Ashley Tovar

If Coleville was riding high fresh off their 46-14 takedown of Beatty on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Coleville Wolves took a 48-33 bruising from the Pershing County Mustangs on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolves of the 46-27 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Coleville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ashley Tovar, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards, and Kenna Lange, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Tovar a new career-high in boards.

It was another big night for Aaliyah Allen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards for Pershing County. Allen is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kyra Cerni, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Coleville now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Pershing County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Coleville will challenge Eureka at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Eureka will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Coleville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pershing County, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 46-13 win against Coral Academy of Science - Reno on the 10th.
