Given Rio Hondo Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Westridge is ranked 788th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rio Hondo Prep found their leader in underclassman Tara Riley, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emma Carson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Rio Hondo Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Westridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
