Volcano Vista hasn't had much luck against Cleveland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hawks will take on the Storm at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Volcano Vista is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 14-10 W over Cibola. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Justus Foutz was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 87 yards and a pair of scores. Those 87 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Volcano Vista proved: they limited Cibola to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. While two picked up at least eight total tackles, Kaleb Vander Wilt stood above the rest. He picked up three sacks, made eight total tackles, and defended two passes. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Volcano Vista; they were averaging 5.2yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only 0 per game.
Volcano Vista's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Vander Wilt was especially locked on to Cibola's QB and sacked him three times. Vander Wilt also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Alvin Gomez was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making three total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Cleveland faced Rio Rancho in a battle between two of the state's top teams two weeks ago. The Storm took their contest with ease, bagging a 49-14 win over the Rams. Considering the Storm have won eight games by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Cleveland had a senior duo take command as Jordan Hatch threw for 163 yards and four TDs while completing 80% of his passes and Jacob Maldonado gained 75 total yards and three touchdowns.
Cleveland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Karson Weddle.
Volcano Vista's record is now 8-3. As for Cleveland, their record now sits at 9-1.
Volcano Vista was dealt a bruising 49-13 loss at the hands of Cleveland in their previous matchup back in October. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
