The Walsh Jesuit Warriors pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Washington 66-60. While losing is never fun, Walsh Jesuit can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Washington is ranked eighth).
Leading Washington to victory were Chris Knight and Jadyce Thigpen. Knight scored 19 points, while Thigpen scored 18 points along with five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Knight has scored at least 25% of Washington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Giorgio Jackson JR, who scored ten points.
Walsh Jesuit's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Washington, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walsh Jesuit will be home for the holidays to greet Parkersburg South at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington will be home for the holidays to greet Ursuline at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ursuline's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
