At bat, Suba went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI, while Clover went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs. Maplewood is undefeated when Clover posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-9-1 otherwise.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Erwin, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Tyson Webster, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Western Reserve, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Waterloo a 5-0 shutout on Friday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Landan Gerchak's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Hunter Stacy was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Vito Armeni was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Maplewood's record is now 15-9-1. As for Western Reserve, their record now sits at 13-8.
Maplewood came out on top in a nail-biter against Western Reserve when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
