The Hug Hawks can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 69-57 win over South Tahoe. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hug to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Koul, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 20 rebounds. Koul is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Bol Makur was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Phil Adina, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Andre Smith, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
South Tahoe struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Hug pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Hug's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for South Tahoe, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Hug will take on Sparks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Sparks focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for South Tahoe, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Wooster at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Wooster is ranked 54th in Nevada, while South Tahoe is ranked 64th in California).
