Jose Salcido put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Salcido has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive pitching appearances. Salcido was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs.
Salcido wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leo Carballo, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a double.

In other batting news, Ziggy Avinion was incredible, going 3-for-3 with a triple, a run, and a double. Khalil Graham was another key contributor, going 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
Southwest EC's loss dropped their record down to 23-9. As for Mira Mesa, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 20-11.
Southwest EC does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mira Mesa, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Valhalla at 7:00 p.m. Valhalla is on a ten-game streak of home wins, Mira Mesa a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
