In the biggest game of the year so far nationally, a pair of Texas teams squared off near Houston on Friday. In the end, second-ranked nationally North Shore (Houston)
beat No. 17 Shadow Creek (Pearland) 38-21 to win its 16th consecutive
contest.
Dematrius Davis finished with two scores and top-rated Class of 2022 cornerback
Denver Harris had a huge game with two interceptions — one a game-changing pick six just before halftime for the Mustangs.

With the game tied at 14 late in the second quarter, Harris grabbed a tipped pass and
returned it 90 yards for a touchdown giving the two-time defending Class
6A Division 1 champions all the momentum they needed to start the
season with a big win over the 2019 Class 5A Division 1 champ.
In a game filled with big plays, though Shadow Creek's Kyron Drones and
C.J. Guidry made plenty but the Sharks committed four key turnovers.
A nifty 20-yard
touchdown run by Dematrius Davis with 5:30 to go finally put it away.

In the Texas computer rankings, North Shore was ranked No. 2 and Shadow Creek No. 7.
This was opening week for the 6A and 5A classifications in Texas,
delayed due to COVID-19 concerns. The state's smaller schools began play
 four weeks ago.
