Newark Memorial is 7-0 against Yerba Buena since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. Newark Memorial took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (and then some). They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 56-22 win over Hill.
Newark Memorial can attribute much of their success to Sydney Scott, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Lavina Sanft, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, Yerba Buena had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a rough 56-20 loss at the hands of Gilroy. Yerba Buena has not had much luck with Gilroy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Newark Memorial's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Yerba Buena, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything came up roses for Newark Memorial against Yerba Buena in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 as the squad secured a 57-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newark Memorial since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
