Rainen Tolentino made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Davin Arth, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Thousand Oaks ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Calabasas 10-9. With that victory, the Lancers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Like Foothill Tech, Thousand Oaks also got a great game from a two-way player: Dane Holt. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Holt was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Sax, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. James Luderer was another key player, going 2-for-6 with three RBI and one double.
Thousand Oaks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win made it two in a row for Foothill Tech and bumps their season record up to 12-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Thousand Oaks, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-12.
Foothill Tech came up short against Thousand Oaks when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
