The Marion County Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Hawkinsville Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Marion County and Columbus meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Blue Devils. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Lindsay Bagley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kinsley Barrow, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Haleigh Frazier was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Marion County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Hawkinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 15-3 to Wilcox County.
Hawkinsville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janette Collins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Marion County has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hawkinsville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.
Hawkinsville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marion County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. It's a different story for Hawkinsville, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain Marion County's hitters?
Everything went Marion County's way against Hawkinsville in their previous meeting back in August, as Marion County made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
