The Clarion Area Bobcats had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down Smethport 39-21 on Friday.
Among those leading the charge was Taylor Alston, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Gia Babington, who scored 9 points.
When it comes to explaining why Smethport lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elizabeth Hungiville. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Goodman, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds.
Clarion Area's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Smethport, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Clarion Area will head out on the road to face off against Ridgway at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Smethport, they will square off against Keystone at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
