The Central Lancers were the 49-22 winner over the Mastery Charter North - Pickett Pumas when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Central fell just short of the Pumas by a score of 52-50.
Sofia Meer and Jayda Wright certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Meer dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Wright scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Meer hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Lucy Shaw, who scored three points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mastery Charter North - Pickett to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zaakirah Edwards, who scored 19 points. Kyjanae Cooper was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Mastery Charter North - Pickett, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Central will be playing in front of their home fans against the at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Masterman's defense has only allowed 25.7 points per game this season, so the Lancers' offense will have their work cut out for them. Mastery Charter North - Pickett does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
