Liberty is 2-8 against Bethlehem Catholic since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Liberty Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Bethlehem Catholic Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Liberty earned a 43-36 win over William Allen.
Among those leading the charge was Emma Pukszyn, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anijah Davis, who scored five points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bethlehem Catholic came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Emmaus with points to spare, taking the game 58-40. Given Bethlehem Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Emmaus is ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Liberty now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Bethlehem Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Liberty, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-35 loss to Bethlehem Catholic in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Liberty avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
