Weed is 8-2 against Modoc since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Weed Cougars will host the Modoc Braves at 7:00 p.m. Weed will be strutting in after a victory while Modoc will be coming in after a defeat.
Weed took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Etna with a sharp 53-28 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Annabelle McCarthy had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Bivens, who posted 14 points.
Meanwhile, Modoc unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity. While the Braves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 10-6 in the first quarter.
Weed will have to keep a close watch on Jordyn Sandage and Allie Weber, a pair of players who had a big impact on Modoc's prior game. Sandage earned 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while Weber went 5 for 8 on her way to 12 points and three steals. Weber continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Katie Erquiaga was another key player, putting up nine rebounds, three steals, and three blocks.
Weed has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.1 points per game. As for Modoc, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 17-7.
Things could have been worse for Weed, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-32 loss to Modoc in their previous matchup two weeks ago.
