The Newport Buffaloes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Juniata 49-19. Newport was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 24-4.
Ava Shearer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Juniata, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for Shearer. Regan Lowrey was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Newport's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Juniata, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Newport will head out on the road to face off against Antietam at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Antietam is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Juniata, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 14th. Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
