After a string of eight wins dating back to last season, The Boerne-Champion Chargers''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wagner. Boerne-Champion lost against Wagner in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 47-7 score last time.
Wagner's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Juan'yae Taylor, who rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown. Taylor's longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. Brayden Prasse and his 107 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Wagner's victory.
Having lost for the first time this season, Boerne-Champion fell to 6-1. Wagner is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Boerne-Champion will be playing in front of their home fans against Smithson Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Smithson Valley is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Wagner, they will challenge Hays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hays will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 645th, while Wagner is ranked 137th).
