The Greater Johnstown Trojans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Penn Cambria and snuck past 55-53. For Greater Johnstown, this counts as revenge for the 56-49 defeat the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Penn Cambria's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenna Mccoy, who scored 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mccoy has scored all season. Tagen Mcconnell was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Greater Johnstown's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Penn Cambria, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greater Johnstown will square off against the Crushers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Penn Cambria, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
