The West Park Panthers will take on the Ceres Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Park will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
West Park's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Cordova. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 15 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Keagan Price looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Mason Zobel was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Jesse Palmer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
West Park hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ceres, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They skirted past Livingston 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Wolves since April 11, 2017.
Vincent Castrejon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Ceres' victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mario Vargas, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another was Daniel Davis, who went 1-for-2 with three runs.
West Park has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Ceres, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.
Both West Park and Ceres just can't seem to miss. The Panthers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Ceres struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
