Lower Lake is 0-10 against Fort Bragg since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Trojans will square off against the Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. Lower Lake has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lower Lake came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Kelseyville, falling 12-1.
Lower Lake saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Jones, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Bragg). They never let Upper Lake get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Timberwolves needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Carter Killion made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leo Garcia, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Giancarlo Diaz, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Fort Bragg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fort Bragg's record is now 11-3. As for Lower Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Lower Lake might still be hurting after the 22-0 defeat they got from Fort Bragg when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
