Baseball Recap: Frontier Comes Up Short

Frontier lost against Ridgeview back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Frontier fell just short of Ridgeview by a score of 9-7.

Frontier got a good showing from Cade Shaw, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Landon McDonald was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Frontier's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Cameron Clay also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, Frontier lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post two or more home runs.

Frontier has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. The win made it two in a row for Ridgeview and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Frontier will venture away from home to face off against Bakersfield Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bakersfield Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Frontier surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ridgeview, they will welcome Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ridgeview is facing Canyon at the right time seeing as Canyon is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
