Wilcox County barely beat Hawkinsville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Wilcox County's pitcher stepped up to hand Hawkinsville a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.

Deacon McDuffie was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Eli McKinney also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Wilcox County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hawkinsville only posted a batting average of .154.

Wilcox County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Hawkinsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Wilcox County will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Treutlen at 5:30 p.m. on April 8. As for Hawkinsville, they will square off against East Laurens at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
