Davis has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Thursday. They will square off against the Lincoln Trojans at 3:30 p.m. Hopefully Davis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
While it was all tied up 18-18 at halftime, Davis was not quite Del Oro's equal in the second half on Friday. Davis lost to Del Oro at home by a decisive 42-28 margin. Davis has not had much luck with Del Oro recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Eva Makus, who scored 11 points. She scored a full 39.3% of Davis' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sonia Clayton, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds.
Davis struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Del Oro pulled down 15.
Meanwhile, Lincoln entered their tilt with Monte Vista with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Lincoln enjoyed a cozy 60-42 win over Monte Vista on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given Lincoln's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Monte Vista is ranked 136th).
Davis' loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lincoln, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Davis won a match that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in February of 2018, slipping by Lincoln 55-54. Will Davis repeat their success, or does Lincoln have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
