Elizabeth extended their winning streak to 18 on Saturday, bumping them up to 22-2. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.
Faith Carlson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in September of 2024.
In other batting news, Aurelia Espinoza was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. Grace Carlson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Elizabeth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo Centennial only posted a batting average of .100.
As for Pueblo Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. They haven't had much luck with Elizabeth recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
On Pueblo Centennial's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrianna Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Coming up, Elizabeth will challenge Widefield at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 1.8, the Gladiators 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Pueblo Centennial, they will be taking part in a tournament against Palisade at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
