Basketball Recap: Olympian Falls Despite Big Games from Rochelle Burns and Alyssa Lewis

If Olympian was feeling good fresh off their 54-30 takedown of Academy of Our Lady of Peace last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Olympian Eagles lost to the St. Joseph Academy Crusaders at home by a 51-37 margin on Wednesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.

Despite the defeat, Olympian had strong showings from Alyssa Lewis, who posted 12 points and seven boards, and Rochelle Burns, who earned eight points and nine rebounds. Burns is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Agpaoa, who scored four points.

St. Joseph Academy had a senior duo take command as Angie Beath had 26 points along with five boards and three steals and Luciana Aguilar dropped a double-double on 19 rebounds and 11 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Beath has scored all season. Nancy Chavez was another key player, putting up nine points.

Olympian's record is now 7-10. As for St. Joseph Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

Olympian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-37 victory against Hilltop on the 10th. St. Joseph Academy has also already played their next contest, a 57-48 loss against St. Bonaventure on the 11th.
