It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Jim Ned Indians can now relate to. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 35-34 to Whitesboro. It was the first time this season that Jim Ned let down their fans at home.
Jim Ned's loss came despite strong showings from Brayden Shipman and Trey Hicks. Shipman rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns, while Hicks rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
Whitesboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karter Sluder led the charge by picking up 108 receiving yards, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Sluder was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Clay Hermes, who threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns.
Jim Ned's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Whitesboro, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Jim Ned does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Whitesboro will square off against Bushland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bushland will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
