Basketball Game Preview: Salesian College Preparatory Pride vs. Bethel Jaguars

Salesian College Preparatory is 6-0 against Bethel since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Salesian College Preparatory Pride will host the Bethel Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Salesian College Preparatory was able to grind out a solid victory over Redwood, taking the game 52-44. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pride.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salesian College Preparatory to victory, but perhaps none more so than Janiya Sawyer, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and five boards. Sawyer is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jamia Sawyer, who had 15 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bethel). They came out on top against Rancho Cotate by a score of 63-52 on Tuesday.

Bethel pushed their record up to 2-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.9 points per game. As for Salesian College Preparatory, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Everything came up roses for Salesian College Preparatory against Bethel in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, as the team secured a 59-15 win. In that game, Salesian College Preparatory amassed a halftime lead of 41-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
