Leigh has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Prospect Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Leigh focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Leigh narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lincoln 53-51.
Emily Chen went supernova for Leigh, scoring 21 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chen has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Catalina Williams, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Prospect's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 61-54 to Santa Teresa.
The losing side was boosted by Sadie Slaughter, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That was a full 44.4% of Prospect's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Anbrielle Joan Mangoba was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Leigh has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. As for Prospect, their loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4.
Leigh came up short against Prospect in their previous meeting back in January, falling 38-32. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Slaughter, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Now that Leigh knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
