Lincoln East came out on top against Lincoln Northeast on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Spartans put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 12-3 victory. Nevaeh Coleman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Stithem, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Lincoln East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Northeast only posted a batting average of .200.
Lincoln East is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Lincoln Northeast, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9.
