Esparto has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Golden Sierra Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Esparto suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 47-21 walloping at the hands of Vacaville Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Esparto has suffered against Vacaville Christian since December 21, 2017.
The losing side was boosted by Khalia Moore, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Golden Sierra had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 42-28 victory over Highlands on Friday.
Golden Sierra's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gracey Nordby, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nordby has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Peyton Lesher, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Esparto's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Golden Sierra, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9.
Esparto was taken down by Golden Sierra 58-16 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Esparto, Macy Nah-Aquino (who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
