Southwest SD found their leader in underclassman Jazlyn Martinez, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martinez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Analisa Valencia, who scored ten points.
Mar Vista lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anissa Smith, who scored nine points. Allyson Bell was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Southwest SD's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Mar Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest SD will challenge Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sweetwater has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Mar Vista, they will head out on the road to challenge Morse at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Morse presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mar Vista in California (Morse is ranked 203rd, while Mar Vista is ranked 1167th).
