The Sycamore Spartans lost against the Freeport Pretzels back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sycamore received a tough blow as they fell 66-52 to Freeport. Sycamore has not had much luck with Freeport recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Dedric Macon was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points for Freeport. The game was Macon's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kazion Morehead, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Sycamore has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Freeport, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sycamore's road trip will continue as they head out to face Kaneland at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Kaneland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sycamore in Illinois (Kaneland is ranked 165th, while Sycamore is ranked 351st). Freeport and Boylan Catholic will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Boylan Catholic will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
