Kole Hightower was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Aaroon Moreno was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Kevin Hightower was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Meanwhile, Mammoth had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Lone Pine by a score of 6-1 on Monday.
Brennan Deaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on DJ Gray, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Martin Walker, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
California City's victory bumped their record up to 16-9-1. As for Mammoth, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.
Mammoth's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: California City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Mammoth, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain California City's hitters?
California City took their victory against Mammoth in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 15-5 score. Do the Ravens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
