After two games on the road, Lincoln High is heading back home. They and the Pius X Thunderbolts will face off at 5:45 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Lincoln High on the road against the Islanders as the team secured a 50-21 win. That 29 point margin sets a new team best for Lincoln High this season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Pius X gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They blew past Omaha Northwest 64-23 at home. Winning may never get old, but Pius X sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Pius X's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sara Iburg led the charge by scoring 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Markowski, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Lincoln High's victory bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Pius X, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
Lincoln High didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Thunderbolts when the teams last played back in January of 2022, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Pius X's Adison Markowski, who scored 20 points.
