The Southridge Spartans will square off against the South Dade Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Things were looking good for Southridge after they put the first points on the board last Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. Another back making a difference was Travis Gamble Jr, who rushed for 82 yards and one score.
Meanwhile, South Dade waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 23-0 win. Considering the Buccaneers have won four matchups by more than 22 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Having lost for the first time this season, Southridge fell to 8-1. As for South Dade, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Southridge took their victory against South Dade in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 33-7 score. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Buccaneers' X'Zayvion Clayton, who rushed for 122 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 195 yards and one touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Spartans to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
