Milken is a perfect 7-0 against New Roads since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Milken Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the New Roads Jaguars at 3:00 p.m. New Roads took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Milken, who comes in off a win.
Milken is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since March 21, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Brentwood School.
Joey Schwartz was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Schwartz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Jordan Liebman looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, Jordan Brown was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jonah Herschko was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Milken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, New Roads was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against Rio Hondo Prep, falling 8-1. The loss was the Jaguars' first of the season.
New Roads saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Linares, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Having lost for the first time this season, New Roads fell to 2-1. As for Milken, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went Milken's way against New Roads in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Milken made off with a 6-0 win. Does Milken have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Roads turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
