The Monticello Magic will face off against the Buffalo Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Monticello 2.8, Buffalo 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Monticello is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: Moorhead, who was ranked ninth at the time (Monticello was ranked 12th). The Magic came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spuds on Friday, sneaking past 6-5. The win was familiar territory for the Magic, who have now won four contests in a row.
The team relied heavily on Dom Marschel, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jeron Schlangen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Buffalo was able to grind out a solid victory over Eden Prairie on Friday, taking the game 6-2.
AIDEN MARCONETT was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, DOLEN BRISK was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was CARSON HAUGEN, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Monticello's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Buffalo, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
