Basketball Recap: Salesian College Preparatory Victorious

Salesian College Preparatory posted their closest win since January 11th on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over the San Joaquin Memorial Panthers.

Janiya Sawyer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Sawyer is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jamia Sawyer was another key player, posting nine points and six rebounds.

Salesian College Preparatory's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for San Joaquin Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Salesian College Preparatory and San Joaquin Memorial should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Salesian College Preparatory (ranked 43rd) will meet Clayton Valley Charter (ranked 153rd) at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Salesian College Preparatory is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. Similarly, San Joaquin Memorial (ranked 38th) will meet Edison (ranked 776th) at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
