The Downey Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They really took it to Warren for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-22 victory at home. Downey has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.
Downey had a senior duo take command as Olivia Vaughn scored 14 points along with five steals and Genesis Salinas scored 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Salinas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Symantha Barnett, who scored five points along with three steals and two blocks.
The victory (which was Downey's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Warren, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Downey will challenge Paramount at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Warren, they will head out on the road to face off against Lynwood at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lynwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Saturday.
