South extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-18. They lost 18-4 to the East Bakersfield Blades. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Blades this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-6 defeat on Tuesday.
South saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Conner Eades, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI. Xavier Anaya was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As for East Bakersfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On East Bakersfield's side, SEBASTIAN MENDOZA made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. East Bakersfield is undefeated when MENDOZA allows one or fewer hits, but 4-6 otherwise. MENDOZA was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.

CALVILLO went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while CARPIO went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave CARPIO a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mena Isaac, who got on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
