After losing to Laurel the last time they met, Slippery Rock decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Slippery Rock Rockets were the clear victor by a 52-31 margin over the Laurel Spartans on Saturday. The Rockets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Slippery Rock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gia Kovacik led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Sabo, who posted 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Slippery Rock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Slippery Rock's record now sits at 8-3. As for Laurel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Slippery Rock didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-34 victory against Sharon on the 13th. Laurel has also already played their next match, a 61-48 win against Cathedral Prep on the 12th.
