After a string of six wins, the Miramonte Matadors's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a hard 56-40 fall against Acalanes. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Miramonte in their matchups with Acalanes: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Miramonte lost, one person who can't be blamed is Karena Eberts. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 42.5% of Miramonte's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Marianna Lawrence was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Miramonte's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Acalanes, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miramonte will face off against Campolindo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Acalanes will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Ygnacio Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Ygnacio Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 501st, while Acalanes is ranked 27th).
