The Tamaqua Blue Raiders will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Minersville Battlin' Miners at 3:00 p.m. on February 10th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Tamaqua rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 39-31 win over the Panthers. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 5 on the offensive boards, as Tamaqua did.
Tamaqua's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendle Miller, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Leah Black, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Minersville entered their tilt with Schuylkill Haven with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Minersville came out on top against Schuylkill Haven by a score of 59-49 on Monday. Minersville's victory was all the more impressive since Schuylkill Haven was averaging only 26.77 points allowed on the season.
Tamaqua is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Minersville, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Tamaqua might still be hurting after the 64-39 loss they got from Minersville in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Tamaqua avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
