Ben Kemp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reuben Nicholson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Trejo, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Bishop Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legacy Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .059.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four contests, Boron finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They came up short against University Prep, falling 9-2. The game marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Geordyn Rundblade made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Andrew Gartica, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Bishop Union now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Boron, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.
Everything went Bishop Union's way against Boron in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Bishop Union made off with a 9-3 victory. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
