Baseball Recap: West Takes a Loss

It was fun while it lasted, but West's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Thursday. They fell just short of the El Segundo Eagles by a score of 8-7. The loss was the Warriors' first of the season.

Reef Sharman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Pemasa Mateaki also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Even though they lost, West hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, West fell to 3-1. As for El Segundo, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, West will face off against North at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for El Segundo, they will square off against Los Alamitos at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Los Alamitos' pitching crew has only allowed 0.5 runs per game this season, so El Segundo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
